Let's get started with the very basics: What is a flower essence and how does it work?
Flower essences were created in the 1930s. by Dr. Edward Bach, a British physician and homeopath. Like homeopathy, flower essences, or "flower remedies" as they are called in England, rely on microscopic dilutions of the substance (in this case, flowers).
Bach discovered that certain flowers had specific positive effects on a person's emotional well-being. He created the original 38 flower remedies, which according to the Bach website, "are enough to remove all negative emotional problems."
How flower essences work is unknown. While some skeptics say they are just a placebo effect, flower essence practitioners believe that it is the energetic signature of the flower that creates the positive emotional change.
To explain simply, think of the idea of "The Force" from Star Wars. As Obi-Wan Kenobi says about The Force: "It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together."
"The Force" in the real world is called prana or chi. A flower has its own specific energetic signature, which is transferred to the water used to create the flower essence. When someone ingests a flower essence (usually by putting drops of the essence on or under the tongue, or into a glass of water), the energetic signature of the flower is incorporated into the body's energy field, thus lifting the energy up.
Traditional flower essences come in small dropper bottles, in a solution of water and some type of preservative (usually alcohol such as brandy). (The virtual flower essences presented here on this website are sent via distance healing, rather than using a bottle.) Flower essences can also come in creams and in sprays, where they are usually mixed with essential oils.
Flower Essences are NOT Essential Oils
Essential oils are actual extracts of oil from the flower, and have a very strong odor. Flower essences are energetic vibrations of the flower, and have no smell, odor, or taste (other than the preservative used).
